How to Compare Budget Aluminium Door Profile Quotes per Metre and per Kilogram

Compare the same section, material, finish and supply scope before comparing the price. A low price per kilogram does not automatically mean a low cost per finished interior door.

Start with one confirmed drawing

Give suppliers the same model reference or dimensioned section drawing. Confirm its position in the door system, mating sections, nominal wall thickness and agreed tolerance, alloy and temper, finish, colour and cut length. Similar-looking sections may have different grooves or fixing interfaces.

Convert the units using the selected profile

Price per metre equals price per kilogram multiplied by kilograms per metre when both prices cover the same product and processing scope. Measured kilograms per metre equals the unpacked sample mass in kilograms divided by its measured length in metres. Keep the model and batch label with the weighing and length records. Distinguish catalogue references from the agreed specification and actual batch measurements.

Compare the complete supply and delivery cost

Separate coating, cutting and hardware charges before comparing. For finished-door costing, identify the required section lengths, cutting loss, locks, hinges, gaskets, panels or glass, assembly and packing. Confirm whether MOQ applies to each model, colour or length. Record destination and delivery terms, and separate production time from transport. Import-cost estimates need the actual destination and current written logistics quotation.

FAQ

Q: Is the lightest section always the best budget option?
A: Choose a section that fits the agreed use and assembly first, then compare the complete component and delivery cost. Weight or wall thickness alone does not establish complete-door performance.

Q: What should accompany a weight-per-metre figure?
A: The model, batch, measured length, unpacked mass, measurement date and supporting photos. Supply tolerances should be written into the agreed specification.
